Let’s be honest, our 4-legged friends are more than just pets. They are a part of the family! While we are planning out our weekend activities, we don’t want to leave Fido out of the fun. The good news is-Atlanta is a majorly pet-friendly place. If you are out for a stroll, you’ll notice storefronts throughout the city leave a refreshing bowl of H20 out for our furry friends. There are also countless dog parks throughout the city, and there are even some great pet-centered activities and events! Check out a few of our picks below.


The Pet Parade at the Heritage Sandy Springs Festival

Saturday, September 28th at the Entertainment Lawn at Heritage Sandy Springs Museum & Park

Pets of all shapes and sizes parade through the Sandy Springs Festival, sporting creative and crazy costumes. A Festival tradition since 1987, the Pet Parade is free to enter and prizes are awarded in a variety of categories: Most Unusual Pet, Coolest Trick, Owner/Pet Lookalike, Celebrity Impersonator, Best of Show, and People’s Choice. The first 50 online registrants are guaranteed to receive a goody bag! Day-of Registration will be available Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at the Festival Main Stage. There is a $5 (tax-deductible) fee to participate in the Pet Parade. Proceeds from the Pet Parade benefit Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. with awards and prizes following at 11:00 a.m.



Dog Friendly Trivia Thursdays

Every Thursday, THE LOCAL PIZZAiOLO – Toco Hill, 2941 North Druid Hills Road Northeast

A “bring your own beer” establishment, The Local Pizzaiolo has an expansive patio, and very dog friendly. Winners receive prizes, and they have some delicious and affordable food offerings including Neapolitan pizza, pasta, salad and dessert. Trivia Night is every Thursday from 7:30-9:30PM. Bring your best trivia-savvy peeps, your pooch, and get ready for a good time!



Strut Your Mutt

Saturday, October 5th, Grant Park

An ongoing favorite of Atlanta pet-lovers, Strut Your Mutt is no ordinary dog walking event. This fundraising festival includes interactive games and activities for you, your dog and your whole family! Register today and break those sneakers in for a day of lifesaving milestones. Best Friends Animal Society is teaming up with partner rescue groups, shelters and animal welfare organizations to help save the lives of homeless cats and dogs! Bring your four-legged friends to this charity dog walk that brings communities together to raise money and save the lives of homeless pets. When you fundraise, you choose where your support goes: to Best Friends Animal Society, or to your favorite participating local animal welfare organization.
